This page explains what we promise, what we can't control, and how accounts, recordings, and deliveries work. It pairs with the commitments on our pricing page — nothing here walks those back.

1. Who we are, and what you're agreeing to
Time Release Safes ("TRS") is operated by Time Release Corporation, Atlanta, Georgia. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
2. What the service is
TRS provides end-to-end encrypted capture, storage, and scheduled or triggered delivery of your content to people you designate. Your content is encrypted on your device with keys we never hold. That design is the point of the product — and it has consequences described below.
3. TRS is not an emergency service
TRS does not contact police, medical services, or any authority on your behalf. It is a documentation and delivery tool, not a substitute for 911 or local emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services first.
4. Recordings and network conditions
TRS streams encrypted recordings off your device in real time, and is designed to buffer locally and resume uploading when a connection returns. But we cannot control the network between your phone and our servers. Coverage gaps, a cellular data plan running out during or after a recording, WiFi-to-cellular handoffs that cause latency or brief outages, device storage or battery exhaustion, or your phone's operating system terminating the app can interrupt an upload or end a recording session earlier than the time limit would otherwise allow.
Our commitment is this: everything that reaches our servers is preserved and delivered according to your settings. We are not responsible for content that never left your device because of network, carrier, device, or operating-system conditions outside our control, and we do not guarantee that any recording will be complete or uninterrupted.
5. Encryption, keys, and what we cannot do
Your content is encrypted with keys that exist only on your devices and with the people you designate. We cannot read your content, cannot reset or recover your keys, and cannot open your Safes for you, for your family, or for a court. If you lose your keys and your configured recovery paths (recovery phrase, Recoverees), your content is unrecoverable — by design. Failsafe actions that delete keys are permanent.
6. Deliveries: what fires, and when
- Scheduled Safes on a paid plan are held and delivered on their set date, for as long as your plan remains active.
- On Free (including lapsed accounts), scheduled deliveries are honored for up to 2 years after your account goes quiet (no logins). If a Safe's release date is further out than that, you choose when you seal it: release early at the 2-year mark, or don't release at all.
- Releasee-triggered Safes don't wait on any clock — the people you designate can trigger release whenever the conditions you set are met.
- Recipients must verify their identity to open a release. Released Safes wait for them, with reminders.
7. Accounts, billing, and storage
- If a paid subscription lapses, you get a 3-month grace period, after which the account is suspended pending your choice to pay or downgrade. Safety features (panic capture, check-in, stealth) keep working throughout.
- On downgrade, you choose which content stays in active storage within the Free allowance. Content over the allowance moves to cold storage — it is not deleted, retrieval simply requires re-upgrading. Cold-stored content is retained for at least 2 years of account inactivity.
- Empty accounts — no Safes, no content, nothing scheduled — may be removed after 2 years without a login, with repeated warnings to your contact email first.
- Prices for existing customers won't rise without a year of notice and the option to keep your current price.
8. Your responsibilities
- Recording laws differ by place. Some jurisdictions require all parties' consent to record audio. You are responsible for complying with the recording and surveillance laws that apply to you.
- You may not use TRS to stalk, harass, or surveil another person, or to store or deliver unlawful content. We build for the protected, not the pursuer.
- Keep your recovery phrase and trust circle current. The service can only follow the instructions you configured.
9. Disclaimers and limits on liability
The service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Time Release Corporation is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for losses arising from conditions outside our control — including the network and device conditions in section 4, actions of recipients or trusted contacts, or your loss of keys. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
10. If we shut down
Pending Releases fire on schedule before the lights go out, and we'll publish a wind-down plan with at least 90 days of notice, including an export tool for your encrypted content and metadata.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that reduces your rights, we'll notify you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continued use after that is acceptance.
